Your Questions, Answered

What is the registration deadline for Steveston Velo?

Deadline is January 22, 2024.

When will your first group rides occur?

We are aiming for early April to start our group rides! Follow our Instagram page for up to date info http://www.instagram.com/stevestonvelo

When are group rides?

Our regular group rides are Thursday evenings & Saturday mornings. We are introducing gravel rides on Tuesday evenings for the 2024 season!

What happens if I can’t keep up?

Our goal is to be as inclusive as possible and we have a "no-drop" policy on our rides. There will be multiple levels of groups so we recommend starting with the lower-level groups and work your way up.

With all that said, we do suggest that you have the ability to ride at least 30 Km at a time, and feel comfortable riding on the road with a group of four or more other cyclists. You should also be aware that there will be rides that go over bridges. If you're uncomfortable with these suggested skill requirements, please reach out and we will try to work with you to get you comfortable enough to join our level 4 ride group.

Can I bring a friend?

Of course! We would love to them along for a ride! Club members must inform the Steveston Velo Executive team via email to info@stevestonvelo.com of their intention to bring a guest. Guests must complete a waiver before the ride. Each guest is able to join a maximum of two (2) rides per season. Guests must, no exceptions, join the ride at the designated start location to ensure they are present for the route and safety briefing. All guests must abide by the club’s code of conduct and follow all rules of the road.

What if I’m nervous about crossing a bridge or riding part of the designated route?

Let your ride leader know! All our ride leaders are certified by Cycling BC and want to make sure you have a fun and safe ride.

Gravel rides? Tell me more!

We are primarily a road cycling group but beginning in 2024 we will be offering weekly gravel rides on Tuesday evenings! Gravel rides will be 1-3 hours in length and explore routes in Richmond and Vancouver. These rides will have two groups based on pace - a Group 1/2 pace and a Group 3/4 pace. Appropriate tires strongly recommended. Lights mandatory.
